The boys of Green Day stopped by The Studio at Webster Hall In New York City Thursday night to play their second surprise show in recent months - where they kicked off Halloweekend with a set of new material from the band’s next (and yet to be recorded) album.
Billed as a “Halloween Party and Concert,” front man Billie Joe Armstrong and company stayed true to the theme, taking the stage in costume: Armstrong as Jack Skellington from Tim Burton’s A Nightmare Before Christmas, Tre Cool as a pink fairy (blonde wig included) and Mike Dirnt as a a zombie. But the festivities didn’t stop there, as the pop-punk trio opened the intimate gig with a cover of the Halloween favorite, “The Monster Mash.”

the failed blog attempt
As per usual, any attempt at blogging was a dramatic failure, a word that can also be used to describe my “summer” in Philadelphia. I went, I lived, I did not conquer. I know that I love it there, but short term isn’t going to make it work for me. My heart was back in Iowa City, as much as I wanted it to be with me in Philadelphia. I hope that Germany will allow me to figure some shit out. And the further away from my heart I am, the easier it will be for me to pull it back.
Now let’s try this blog thing again.

Day Four
I hope I find happiness this summer.. Is that too much pressure for my summer? Maybe so. But I know what I’m looking for is not in Iowa City. At the same time.. Can I be happy anywhere if I’m not happy with my body? I don’t know if that’s possible. Well, if I don’t get happy this summer, I’ll sure as hell get sober.
Mission Get Happy and Un-Fat begins tomorrow.
We’ll see if I can actually follow through this time.
The beginning
Well, I am quite sure that no one will ever read this but me. But I can’t think of a better way to document my summer in Philadelphia. I officially leave on Wednesday, and I couldn’t be more scared..
